Sagarafuji Damage
After over 40 years the wooden Sagarafuji was dry and had termite damage.
Mr. Otani and Grandson Eric
When the new temple was rebuilt, a member of the sangha, Mr. Otani, hand carved and gifted this Sagarafuji to Gardena Buddhist Church.

Gegyo Damage
Gegyo had dry rot and termite damage.

Gegyo is heavy and larger than it looks.
New Gegyo
Gegyo was replaced and wood trim was repainted. There are two Gegyo on our roof: one on the South and one on the North above the air conditioners.
Top Ridge Cement is Loose and Dry
At least 30 feet of cement had to be replaced.

Hondo doors are in need of refinishing.

Handrail had dry rot. This is the worst of a few locations around the Hondo.

New Roof Tiles
We took delivery on 10/30/24 of enough roof tiles to last for many years.
50 Sangawara for the middle tiles of the roof. And 50 Nokigawara for the roof edge tiles that have a Custom Eave with the Nishi Honganji sagarafuji.
